VISITOR FACTS
Redlands’ History
Incorporated in 1888, the community of Redlands nestles
against crescent-shaped south-westerly hills and faces the
magnificent San Bernardino mountain range for incredible vistas
that drove early residents to locate their homes for the very
best view. Early residents also came for the climate and topography,
ideal for growing citrus, a crop that generated much of Redlands’ wealth. They brought with them their entrepreneurial spirit,
their high cultural standards, and their family traditions,
and built a town that has attracted people and businesses
from around the world. With the outstanding private University
of Redlands and world-renowned businesses, this town of 70,000
residents has thrived and prospered.
